A recurring question asked by neophytes is: if we are the same Spirits reincarnating at different times, why is the world population increasing?
The answer is apparently simple for those who are familiar with the works of Allan Kardec, but it can be vague, puerile, incomplete and even wrong if it is offered without the proper doctrinal foundation.
Probably those who asked are unaware that: i) the population of disincarnated ones is greater than that of incarnated ones; ii) there are many homes in the Universe; iii) The emigration and immigration of Spirits between worlds is a constant and; iv) God has never ceased to create.
The answer must, therefore, be structured in a way that brings together these assumptions with logic, clearly and, preferably, with the respective references.
Initially, the notion that the entire spiritual population would be restricted only to the incarnated inhabitants of the Earth (SB-87) is detached and, mainly, it is understood that the population in erraticity is superior in quantity, but any attempt to size that population it is mere speculation.
Since all the globes that circulate in space are inhabited and universal space is infinite (SB-55 and GEN – Chap. VI, i. 1), the incarnated and disembodied population of the Earth is only an insignificant fraction compared to the whole and this orb is not a closed system.
As all the worlds are solidary (LE-172 to 176 and LE-184), there is a constant flow of emigration and immigration of Spirits (GEN - Chap. XI, i. 33 to 35).
Due to the fact that God never ceased to create (SB-80 and GEN – Chap. XI, i. 9), in our intellectual stage we cannot dimension and much less establish any temporal relationship about the manifestation of intelligent beings in the Universe, but reincarnation occurs in different worlds (GAS-Chap. 3 - i.2) and we will inhabit those that are compatible with our evolutionary needs (HH - Chap. 3, i. 11 and GEN - Chap. XI, i 27).
The Earth is not the first nor will it be the last planet that we will reincarnate, as we already inhabited more primitive worlds and we may or may not return to inhabit this planet, depending on our evolutionary condition. Once the maximum degree of perfection that the Spirit is susceptible has been reached (GEN – Chap. XI, i. 9), reincarnation will no longer be necessary. In the order of things, the material world is not the main one, but the world of Spirits (SB-85).
Thus, the number of incarnated on this planet is limited by physical capacity and not by the size of the spiritual population, which is infinite.
